Fredrica Teale is a Grand-daughter of Allen Lane, and has been a Trustee of the Foundation since 2002. She lives in Dorset with her husband and three sons while working as a voice coach and medieval historian.

Justine Cadbury

Justine was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in 2001. She completed her pupillage at Queen Elizabeth Building, a specialist family law set, and practised as a barrister there until 2011. She currently works as a Professional Support Lawyer for Stowe Family Law. She lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and three young children.

Michael Firth

Michael has over 30 years experience managing investments for charities and private investors predominantly in the UK. He managed the Foundation’s investments from 2010 until his retirement in March 2021. He has a degree in economics from UCL and lives in Cambridge.

Maurice Frankel

Maurice Frankel

Trustee

Maurice Frankel has worked for the Campaign for Freedom of Information since it began in 1984, and director since 1987. He previously worked for the corporate accountability group Social Audit. He was actively involved in persuading the government to introduce the FOI Act in 1999 and improving the bill in Parliament and now helps train public authorities and requesters, advises people on their rights and seeks to strengthen and improve the Act’s operation. He received an OBE for services to open government in 2004.

Claire is a leader in corporate responsibility and philanthropy, most recently she was Director, Global Health Programmes at GSK where she was responsible for the strategy and delivery of community-based health projects, including a global partnership with Save the Children and the company’s humanitarian response programmes. Previously she held senior management roles in Diageo and Prudential, as well an advisor on public/private partnerships for the Department for Education.

Clara Mulcare

Clara is the newest family trustee, being a great-granddaughter of Allen Lane. She studied Education and Psychology at the University of Bath and is now working as a Marketing Executive in a law firm. She is interested in teenage mental health, and did research into young women with ADHD. In her spare time she enjoys working with textiles. She lives in Oxford.

Zoë Teale

Zoë Teale

Trustee

Zoë Teale is the eldest Grand-daughter of Allen Lane and has been a trustee since the early 1990s. She studied at Oxford University and the London School of Economics, taught English in the UK and in Asia, and is a published writer. She lives in Oxford.

Philip Walsh

Philip Walsh

Trustee

Philip Walsh is the CFO at Mind, having previously held similar roles at the Design Museum, the RAF Museum and the Wallace Collection. He qualified as a chartered accountant after studying Natural Sciences at Durham University, and went on to work at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Originally from Lancashire, he now lives with his family in North London.
