Brighton & Hove Faith in Action
Brighton & Hove Faith in Action works to bring together faith groups and individuals to work alongside one another in helping vulnerable groups. It aims to relieve poverty, loneliness and isolation by meeting the needs of those who are socially isolated, experiencing destitution, or who are migrants or seeking asylum. The charity works closely with the local council, operates various projects, and manages the Faith Council for the city of Brighton Hove. It is a membership organisation and has over 75% of the city’s faith groups as members.
The Allen Lane Foundation considered an application from the charity in February 2024, and awarded a grant of £5,000. The funding is towards a specific project that is aiming to build on and expand the support that members of the faith network provide to refugees and asylum seekers. It will bring together leaders within faith groups, and provide training and information that will enable better support for individuals. The project is working with the local City of Sanctuary group, and will organise six training events for faith groups, working with at least 15 groups over the year. The intention is that 300+ refugees and asylum seekers will be positively impacted by the faith groups, accessing friendship, welcome, and services that they need and are appropriate for them.
