Millrace Furniture Restoration
This organisation is based within a furniture workshop and office in Chelmsford, Essex and has been running for more than 25 years. It offers services including the repair and restoration of antique and modern furniture and upholstery, and runs classes and training in these skills. Millrace also provides a safe, supportive work environment for people who are recovering from severe and enduring mental health problems. Ten people at any one time can benefit from learning new skills, gain accreditation and qualifications, and have meaningful work experience.
A £3,000 grant was awarded to Millrace Furniture Restoration to contribute towards its general running costs. The grant was made at the February 2019 meeting of Trustees. Outcomes from the work will include improved mental health and social well-being, improved feelings of dignity and personal independence, reduced social isolation, as well as opportunities to gain qualifications.
